I am sorry for my delay. I was out in Chickie Town. Miss Nelly is on her laying box, and I am waiting on my breakfast. She appears to do better if I dont stand there and watch.
Yes, I had a pig when I was growing up as a school project. Probem was that with one pig, I found the pig to be very smart. Smarter than a dog in fact. So, I would like to have a pig for the reason you mention, but am concerned pig would become a pet, and would not contribute to said self-sufficiency status in breakfast.
My last guess - is it Harry Emerson Fosdick? Now I'm off to do farm chores. Nate will probably make the correct guess and have his victory lap before I get to check back in. Have a great day everyone!
Mrs. PJM is under the weather the last few days from the nasty bug going around. She had a nice cup of applesauce, and I made her a Ginger Root tea, which helps settle the stomach.
While we all sympathize with her, I must say I did enjoy the extra eggs. PJM
Gathering eggs reminds me of when I was around 10 or 11 years old. We lived on a farm. I really liked fried eggs. My mother would fix us one egg for breakfast. I wanted more, so one morning she said she would fix me all the eggs I could find. I went out to the hen house and found about 6 eggs. She fried them for me and made me eat every last bite. I never asked for more eggs again. Yes, you can reach under the hen to see if she has laid an egg.
I'm usually too late in looking in on Saturday, but after seeing the picture say to myself, "Nate Schmate - that was a cinch!" But I didn't recognize Sherman at all. I'm in awe.
PJM, I think you are already a gentleman, because you seem to be a great fellow, helping your students and family to a better life. I miss Smart Girl and Heather when they are off. Also like Geezers' comments. And all the others. You really need a tractor.I need a tractor also, because I'm retired and have a couple of Texas acres here in the hill country. Congratulations on a good show. I enjoy it every day. Squeaky, in Texas
Is it James Middleton Cox?
ReplyDeleteIs it Alexander Phimister Proctor one of the America's foremost animaliers?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for my delay. I was out in Chickie Town. Miss Nelly is on her laying box, and I am waiting on my breakfast. She appears to do better if I dont stand there and watch.
ReplyDeleteNo, not Middleton Cox
No not Alexander Proctor.
Well, y'know the old saying: a watched hen never lays.
ReplyDeleteHappy breakfast!
What would be the appropriate time before I go check again? I am getting hungry.
ReplyDeletePJM
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got til it's there?
ReplyDeleteWould it be considered inappropriate barnyard ettiquite to lift her up and see if the egg has in fact already been laid?
ReplyDeletePJM
If you start growing wheat and raising hogs and cows, you can become fully breakfast self-sufficient.
ReplyDeleteAnd, you'll need a tractor.

ReplyDeleteHe looks somewhat like
ReplyDeleteCalvin Coolidge, who has
connections to Mt Rushmore.
So I say, Mr Coolidge.
My guess is Charles Howard, the owner of racehorse SeaBiscuit.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see biscuits and gravy as my breakfast today.
Ray,
ReplyDeleteYour entry is not correct.
PJM
Indy,
ReplyDeleteIt is not Charles Howard.
I do however, endorse your proposed breakfast. I just had mine. Two eggs. I gave up on Miss Nelly, and went ahead and ate the two eggs I had.
PJM
Glad you enjoyed your breakfast PJM. Isn't gentlemen farming wonderful! Is is Alf Landon?
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteIt is not Alf Landon.
Miss Nelly just laid her egg. She was quite proud. I have that one tomorrow for breakfast.

PJM

Dan
ReplyDeleteAnother miss.
It is not Louis Feustel.
PJM
Hello. I have been looking at your phots for a couple weeks now..amazing history in them. Now, if I could just figure out who the mystery person is?
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteWell, welcome to the contest. Just make a guess . . . that appears to be what everyone else is doing this morning.
PJM
What?!? People, people... you are allowed to guess before I have a chance to look.
ReplyDeleteI will have to break the winning embargo by guessing Vice President James Sherman.
Hurrah for Big Bill Taft!
ReplyDeleteNate Wins!

The Evil Nate Maas has once again foiled my dreams of victory. Yes, it is VP Sherman.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to defeat the Evil NM?
PJM
Nate you are amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteAs always, well done Nate.
ReplyDeleteDidn't think to put in Vice
President when searching. Started
with 'senators'.

I'd have never guessed Sherman. But now that I know I can tell you this about him: he was the last Veep to die in office.
