I think this location is the Lenox Library at 5th Avenue and 79th Street, which was torn down to make way for the Frick Museum. What a beautiful street 5th Avenue was in those days with all of those magnificent homes!!
This building is the Lenox Library. It was incorporated into the NY Public Library system at some point.
